Clinical Kohli du Plessis keep RCBs fate in their hands
The opening pair bossed the chase after Klaasens masterly 104 from 51 balls
The opening pair of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis put on a batting masterclass to steer Royal Challengers Bangalore to a comfortable eight-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 41 of the Indian Premier League 2023 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Chasing a mammoth target of 193, RCB got off to a flying start with Kohli and du Plessis taking the attack to the SRH bowlers from the outset. The duo brought up their 50-run partnership in just 27 balls, and they continued to pile on the runs at a brisk pace.
Kohli was particularly severe on the SRH bowlers, smashing three sixes and eight fours in his unbeaten knock of 82 off just 53 balls. Du Plessis, too, played some exquisite strokes, hitting five fours and two sixes in his unbeaten knock of 52 off 32 balls.
The pair put the SRH bowlers to the sword, taking the game away from them in the powerplay. They never allowed the SRH bowlers to settle into any rhythm, and they kept rotating the strike regularly.
RCB eventually reached the target with 3.4 overs to spare, with Kohli and du Plessis remaining unbeaten at the crease. The win took RCB to the third spot in the points table, while SRH remained at the bottom of the table.
